 India Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15 August. This day commemorates India gaining independence from British rule in 1947. Independence Day is not just a national festival, but it is a symbol of patriotism, unity, and the value of freedom.





History of Independence Day


India was under British rule for more than 200 years. During this time many freedom fighters fought for the independence of the country. Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and many other revolutionaries sacrificed their lives. Finally, India became independent on 15 August 1947 and our countrymen celebrated their freedom.


Importance of Independence Day


Independence Day reminds us what is the price of freedom. This day is not only about celebration, but it also inspires us to serve the country, take responsibility and be patriotic. This day teaches us that we should contribute to the development of our country and respect the values of democracy.
